MEET THE PASTORS: Over 100 years of Combined Service

For more than 40 years, Senior Pastor Stoney Kiser has helped many deepen their understanding of the bible beginning as a minister in his teens.  His grandfather, the Rev. Dennis Smith whom many knew and loved, traveled the hills of Tennessee and other states singing and carrying the message of Jesus Christ. His grandfather  and many other ministers were mentors in his life. His parents, James and Linda Gail Kiser also had great influence on Stoney since church service was basically their life. They sang, attended church regularly and did church work as well.

Even at a young age, Pastor Stoney would listen and learn from older Men of God as they expounded the gospel.  Also at a young age, he picked up the guitar and began playing the instrument and singing.  Matter of fact, his whole family are singers.  Later on, he learned how to play a banjo also.

He married the love of his life, Debbie Kiser at a young age and shortly after became the pastor in Texas at a church that didn't have many members. The location was not a thriving town but Pastor Stoney learned how to work hard even at a job he didn't enjoy but it provided income for his wife and soon to be first born.  He gained real experience as being a pastor at that small church.  After that, his ministry was in other states as well, such as Florida and Ohio.

Pastor Stoney has two children, and three GRANDchildren!

Another Chapter:

Pastor Stoney began singing in several gospel groups from his church which led to traveling around to different churches which he enjoyed.  He is presently still with a group called 'Mercy Called Called' but in his present role of Pastor and other obligations, he doesn't have as much time for singing with the group which he also enjoys.

Stoney was placed in the position of 'State Overseer' for the state of Georgia.  This position required him to oversee the needs of the churches in Georgia of our Assembly, such as when a pastor was needed or a new church added, etc.  He would travel on a regular basis to the various locations which included the church in Dalton, GA.  Many times he would visit the Dalton church and sing with the group or be the guest speaker for that service or both.

In 2014, the position of Pastorship was open at Dalton, GA, and Stoney felt the call to the work.  He became Pastor in 2014 and is presently the Senior Pastor along with the Assistant Pastor Dale Brewer and Youth Pastor Landon Hughes which combined these men have over 100 years experience in the ministry.

Bro. Dale Brewer became the Assistant Pastor in 2010 and also was the Adult Choir Director.  He has conducted the Wednesday Evening Bible Studies for years and fills in for Pastor Stoney on occasion.  He has printed handouts of his messages and videos the service live stream via Facebook/daltonservices. He has permitted other younger brothers the opportunity to conduct the service on many occasions. He is familiar with what being a pastor involves since he was a pastor many years ago.  He has been a faithful Assistant to Pastor Stoney and the congregation.  He is married to the love of his life, Debbie Brewer and has proudly, two children and six grandchildren.

Landon Hughes, the Youth Pastor is the youngest of the three pastors at the church.  He enjoys serving the youth whether it be preaching the gospel, being a life-coach or just having fun.  He began his position in 2010 and is married to his wife, Leslie Hughes.  They have three children with the oldest being engaged to wed.

While the Pastorship is a 24/7 position, Pastor Stoney counts it a privilege and honor to serve such a great congregation.  Many, many times people will come as visitors to the church services and say, "there's one thing about that church...you can feel the love there.", which speaks volumes.  He also thrills at the sight of one more soul walking down the aisle and giving their heart to the Lord.  His belief: "If I am the cause of only one person that makes it to heaven because of my labor, it will be worth it all!"

Posts of important sermons by all three of these men are posted on the "Good News" blog.  The sermons are from the Sunday Services (a.m.& p.m.), the Wednesday Evening Bible Study, and the 'Moment of Truth' program series which were produced for television in the Dalton area airing on Sunday mornings.

We hope you receive a blessing from the words of life from that grand, old book that is still SO needful today.
